Job Description Job Description We are looking for an experienced part time Controller to join a manufacturing company in Garland, Texas, on a long-term contract basis. This role focuses on enhancing financial processes, mentoring an accounting team, and ensuring accurate and efficient operations. The position is hands-on, emphasizing tactical accounting rather than strategic planning, and offers opportunities to contribute to process improvements and system integrations. Must have manufacturing industry experience This is a 3 month part time contract assignment (25 hours per week) Primarily REMOTE (80-90% remote but would like occasionally to be onsite for a few hours during month-end Close) Part time Manufacturing Controller (contract position): Responsibilities: • Guide and coach an accounting team to address delayed financial tasks and improve their overall performance. • Revamp and streamline monthly close processes to enhance accuracy and reduce completion time. • Train and mentor staff to develop their skills and build a stronger accounting team. • Ensure the accuracy of journal entries, transaction postings, and financial documentation. • Assess and implement optimal costing systems, such as standard and periodic methods. • Collaborate on creating efficient workflows to achieve a faster month-end close timeline. • Support the integration of a new payroll system and ensure smooth adoption. • Utilize tools like Microsoft Dynamics AX to optimize accounting processes and workflows. • Partner with team members to implement best practices and improve overall efficiency. • Proven track record as a Controller, particularly in manufacturing or distribution environments. • Expertise in hands-on accounting, including inventory management and costing systems. • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX and strong Excel skills for reporting and modeling. • Experience in process improvement and redesign within accounting functions. • Excellent communication and mentoring abilities to train and develop staff. • Familiarity with month-end close procedures and payroll system integrations. • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively. • Manufacturing industry experience is required
