Job Description Summary

This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and supporting critical hardware and software used to monitor and design Nuclear Reactors. The responsibilities include supporting internal infrastructure used to develop Software Products, providing customer support for 24x7 operations, documenting installation and test instructions for Software Products, and providing occasional on-site customer support during software upgrades.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide hands-on technology expertise to engineer, automate and migrate business applications applying a breadth of application, infrastructure, database and platform experience.
  • Team with business Architects and Developers to understand requirements and partner on design and migration activities including discovery, provisioning, testing, data migration, and implementation.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for off-hours support, working closely with application and development teams to restore service as quickly as possible.
  • Maintain products and/or services for data protection, disaster recovery and emergency patching.
  • Act as a key escalation point for infrastructure operational issues and questions.
  • Develop technical standards, documentation and knowledge transfer for operational support including the coordination of knowledge transfer to other team members and customers.
  • Design, deploy, and support monitoring and continuous integration solutions for production and test environments.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and standards, developing DevOps and Cyber Security guidelines, process standard operating procedures and training documentation for application teams to promote adoption.
  • Manage communications for scheduled maintenance, incidents and outages.
  • Comply with Export Control and Cyber Security requirements for internal and external Software Products.

Education Qualification

Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a STEM Major and 5 years' experience - OR an Associate's degree or higher and 7 years' experience - OR 13 years' experience in IT system administration or related field

Desired Characteristics

Technical Expertise:

  • Knowledgeable in the following technologies:
  • Windows Server
  • SQL databases (MSSQL preferred)
  • Firewalls (CISCO preferred)
  • Disaster Recovery technologies
  • Infrastructure scripting (PowerShell preferred)

  • Software development exposure - hands on with any programming or scripting language (preferably PowerShell or C#).
  • Understanding of: Database technologies (SQL), Web API (RESTful), Web applications, Thick Clients, Messaging systems, and monitoring systems.
  • Understanding of high availability, clustering, storage arrays, and networking.

Business Acumen:

  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Proactively engages with teams to resolve issues and design solutions using critical thinking and analytical skills and best practices.
  • Focused on delivering a quality product on time.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes.
  • Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers.
  • Communicates and demonstrates a shared sense of purpose.
  • Willing to quickly self-learn new technologies/products as needed.
