Job Details JOB SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Nutrition Care Coordinators, Food and Nutrition Management. Responsible for providing exemplary menu and meal services to patients on assigned units. Actively processes and maintains patient diet orders, assists patients with daily menu selections, meets or exceeds patients' meal requests, resolves tray service or food service issues, prepares and serves patient meals and nourishments, and inventories and delivers nourishments supplies for assigned units. Participates in department performance improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: * Demonstrates a daily commitment to meeting or exceeding the established Standards of Performance. * Provides meal selection to assigned patients utilizing bedside menu entry technology. Offers alternative menu selections when necessary and strives to meet patient meal requests whenever possible. * Maintains diet office computer system, telephones, printers and facsimile machines by entering correct information and providing appropriate, timely responses. * Maintains exemplary customer service on assigned unit and initiates efforts to resolve concerns. * Prepares tray tickets, nourishments, meeting or exceeding each patient's needs. Retrieves patient trays following each meal period and return for ware washing. * Prepares tallied and assigned menu items for patient meals and nourishments, adhering to food safety guidelines. * Serves patient meal trays and nourishments, meeting or exceeding each patient's needs. Retrieves patient trays following each meal period and return for ware washing. * Inventories, orders and delivers assigned nursing unit bulk nourishment supplies. Monitors temperatures of unit refrigerators and rotates supplies appropriately. * Cleans equipment and workspaces according to sanitation guidelines. * Practices appropriate written and verbal communication as necessary to support patient care duties and general operations. * Supports program operations by demonstrating flexibility and adaptability with work assignments. Follow assigned work schedule and job outlines. * Applies sound judgment in problems solving and prioritizing of duties. * Manages job duties effectively and efficiently. Performs all required activities with minimal oversight needed. * Advocates for department, medical center and the community. * Effectively demonstrates the mission, vision, and values of the medical center on a daily basis. * Performs other duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB SPECIFICATIONS: * Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Serv Safe certification preferred. * Licensure / Certifications: None. * Experience: Two year's experience in restaurant, hotel or customer service setting. Face-to-face experience in meeting customer needs / issues is essential. * Essential Technical / Motor Skills: Must be able to communicate clearly and be literate in the English language. Must be able to use telephones, facsimile machines and computer systems for diet office and bedside menu entry. * Interpersonal Skills: Ability to deal with the public, co-workers, patients, guests and physicians in a business-like and positive manner. * Essential Physical Requirements: Daily work is moderate to heavy. Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb stairs. Must be able to lift, push, and / or pull 40 pounds. Must be able to bend and / or stoop. * Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to prioritize duties and learn new skills. Ability to learn and use computer technology. Ability to read, write and communicate information. Ability to coordinate assignments and work within time constraints. * Essential Sensory Requirements: Ability to see, hear and communicate clearly in order to perform job duties. * Exposure to Hazards: Noise, congestion and communicable disease. Wet floors and chemical contact due to office location. * Other - Hours of Work: Schedules completed in 40-hour work weeks. Work week is variable Monday through Friday and includes weekends and holiday rotations. * Population Served: Infants, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.SDL2017
