This contract position is ideal for a nurse with at least 18 months of PCU experience, ready to deliver comprehensive patient care in a dynamic clinical setting. Qualifications & Desired Experience - Minimum 18 months of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience - Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications - Skilled in managing tracheostomies, cardiac drips, cardiac rhythm interpretation, chest tubes, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, and central line management - Comfortable with managing patients with diagnoses such as CHF, dysrhythmias, chest pain, stroke, respiratory illnesses, diabetes, AKI/CKD, and substance withdrawal - Experience with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors preferred - Ability and willingness to float across multiple regional facilities within scope of practice Responsibilities - Provide skilled nursing care for patients not requiring mechanical ventilation - Maintain patient ratios typically at 1:4; may occasionally increase to 1:5 based on acuity - Collaborate with CNA staff, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, and respiratory therapists - Utilize telemetry monitoring both bedside and at nurses stations - Participate in scheduled weekend rotations every other weekend; work 75% of holidays with no on-call requirements - Engage in a comprehensive 2-day orientation both at the facility and departmental levels Additional Details - Scrub color: Navy - Free parking available - Unit culture emphasizes a family-oriented environment - Floating requires agreement as it is necessary within the region - Travelers receive pay while traveling between facilities mid-shift This contract role offers a fulfilling nursing experience in a supportive environment with a predictable schedule.
