Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 11/17/2025 - Duration: 13 weeks - 48 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg night shift position caring for neuro surgical and neuro diagnosis patients, requiring a NC or compact RN license and minimum 2 years of experience. Responsibilities - Work in a medical-surgical unit with a neuro focus in a hospital setting - Night shifts with 36 or 48 hours per week available (4x12-hour shifts, 18:45 - 7:15) - Patient ratios are typically 1:6-7 - Floats may be required within the hospital or to affiliate hospitals depending on census and skillset - Epic EMR is utilized and Epic charting experience is required - Uses Pyxis for medication dispensing and SBAR for communication - Assignment length is 13 to 26 weeks - Weekend requirement is 12-16 shifts per contract with flexibility and discussion encouraged - Primary responsibilities include caring for patients undergoing neuro surgical procedures or presenting with neurological diagnoses - Requires wearing navy scrubs - Initial orientation includes hospital orientation followed by 2 unit-based shifts - Must complete modules and testing requirements before starting the assignment - No RTO allowed during the first week; up to 7 days RTO allowed if not during holidays, more requires facility approval - Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays during contract - Prior permanent or PRN/staff employees of the health system must have a 12-month separation before consideration - Local candidates (within 50 miles) may be offered local rates - Travel pairs welcome if assigned to different units - Travelers cannot work more than 5 days in a row or more than 60 hours per week - Participation in disaster response teams may be required during catastrophic events Requirements - Active NC or compact RN license in hand by start date (pending status allowed at submission) - Minimum of 2 years recent RN experience - Current BCLS and NIHSS certifications required - Ability to pass EKG testing prior to start - Epic EMR experience is required - Must provide two manager or supervisor references from the last 12 months by start date - Comfortable floating to other units or hospitals without restrictions - Must be able to serve on Storm Team or Hurricane Team if needed Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624590.
