Purpose:

Performs technical procedures using ultrasound waves that require independent judgment based on knowledge of human anatomy, physiology and the normal and abnormal variation.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Verifies patients identification and physician's orders.
• Prepares patients for exams and explains procedures while performing studies.
• Obtains pertinent diagnostic examinations for physicians in relation to the ultrasound.
• Correlates the clinical history with the test to be performed.
• Consults with referring physicians regarding patient's previous history and decision of appropriate ultrasonic procedures required.
• Perform the ultrasound ensuring the transducer is capturing images of every angle/section that must be assessed.
• Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients
• Maintain patient records and add medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and sterilize the room in which the procedure takes place.
• Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies
• Attend staff meetings or other company sponsored or mandated meetings as required Other Duties:

  Qualifications:
  
  Required:
  • American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Certified.
  • Registration in 3 modalities: Echo, Vascular, and General
  • CPR Certified.
  • Thorough understanding of their ultrasound equipment, including knobology and camera settings.
  • Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft applications.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Preferred: One year experience as a Radiologic Technologist or in a hospital/imaging center.
