Description of Work
The mission of DPS is to safeguard and preserve the lives and
property of the people of North Carolina through prevention,
protection and preparation with integrity and honor. Included in
this department are Alcohol Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice
Information Network, Emergency Management, Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention, NC National Guard, NC Office of Recovery
and Resiliency, Samarcand Training Academy, State Capitol Police
and State Highway Patrol. Also included are these Boards and
Commissions: ABC Commission, Governor's Crime Commission, Private
Protective Services Commission and Boxing & Combat Sports
Commission. DPS is comprised of approximately 6,000 permanent
positions and nearly 13,000 NC National Guard temporary positions.

Position is the highest level of nursing supervision and the health
authority responsible for the daily management/operation of the
facility nursing operation. Position is Nurse Supervisor I located
at Pamlico Correctional Institution in Bayboro, NC. The
facilityhouses approximately 575 medium custody male offenders. The
Nurse Supervisor is responsible for ensuring professional nursing
care and treatment is afforded to patients within medical policies,
protocols and consistent with Board of Nursing requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct
supervision of all nursing staff to include staff schedules,
assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations and
clinical competency evaluations. The Nurse Supervisor supervises
and conducts needs assessments, develops, implements and evaluates
treatment plans and provides patient care and education to
offenders. Position will ensure all policies and procedures are
followed and submit short- and long-term goals to leadership for
review and approval. Position will perform administrative duties
such as planning, organizing and managing daily operations, quality
assurance, Human Resources management functions and staff
development. The Nurse Supervisor will be required to develop and
maintain effective communication and work relationships with
Physicians, upper management healthcare personnel, patients,
families, agencies and others. The Nurse Supervisor must have the
ability to identify and address quality monitoring and performance
improvement issues for the facility. May be required to work any
schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the
facility level.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State
Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is MH18. State employees are

selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated
taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and
experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon
