Position Summary: The Director of Pharmacy Services (D-PS)
maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations and is
designated as the pharmacist-in- charge, developing, supervising
and coordinating all activities of pharmacy services for both
inpatient and outpatient services. The D-PS is responsible for
providing sufficient staff coverage for anticipated workload, this
includes hiring, termination, training, and scheduling of
employees. Ensures that all pharmacy staff members are currently
licensed/certified/registered and have adequate Continuing
Education credits. The D-PS assures the ongoing development and
implementation of policies and procedures that guide and support
the provision of services, as well as implements and maintains
quality control program as appropriate. The D-PS oversees and
manages all on-site inspections, assisting inspectors and surveyors
in the performance of their duties and provides reports as required
in follow-up to surveys, inspections, and audits. The D-PS
interviews and evaluates the qualifications and competence of
staff, and designs an orientation that integrates employee's needs,
as well as hospital and department requirements. Ensures the
completion of documentation for orientation requirements. The D-PS
is responsible for maintaining strict control over distribution and
usage of controlled substances and ensures appropriate response is
made when discrepancies occur. The D-PS is responsible for the
procurement, inventory control, distribution, storage, and security
of all medications in all storage areas throughout the
organization. D-PS ensures that all medications are labeled in
accordance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
D-PS ensures expiring drugs are removed from general distribution
and refrigeration is sufficient to safely maintain medications.
D-PS provides drug information and ensures that adequate drug
references are available in the Pharmacy and Pharmacy staff is
always available to answer questions as needed. The D-PS will
establish policy and procedures for drug recalls and ensure they
are followed in a timely manner. The D-PS oversees and manages the
340B program. Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy or
PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy required. Master's
degree in related field preferred. Experience: A minimum five (5)
years' managerial experience in a Pharmacy required. Previous
managerial experience in a Hospital preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in the State
of South Carolina. Special Skills: Passionately believes in the

PowerPoint required with samples presented if requested during

regulatory and accreditation agency requirements that impact
department; stays abreast of industry changes. Ability to work

flexibility and adaptability in the workplace. Capable of leading
teams/facilitating groups, building consensus and garnering highest
confidence in professionalism and work product by leadership.
Ability to work under pressure and balance many competing
priorities; highly responsive and solution/action oriented.
