  S&ME is seeking a highly skilled & experienced Geotechnical Engineer & Project Manager to become part of our team in Wilmington, North Carolina. As a Geotechnical Engineer & Project Manager, you will lead and manage complex projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with leadership to ensure the success of geotechnical and construction materials testing initiatives.   What You'll Do:

  • Manage the execution of geotechnical and construction materials testing projects, ensuring budgets, schedules, and quality standards are met.
    
  • Partner with clients to understand their goals, tailoring services to exceed expectations and foster long-term relationships.
    
  • Support and guide engineers, project managers, and field staff, promoting a culture of excellence and growth.
    
  • Identify opportunities to expand our presence, build local client networks, and drive revenue growth through strategic initiatives.
    
  • Develop and review complex project proposals, reports, and recommendations that meet industry and client standards.
    
    
    
    What We're Looking For:
    
    • 
      
    • A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
      
    • 8+ years of experience in geotechnical or construction materials testing, including project management.
      
    • 4+ years in a leadership role with a focus on team and project development.
      
    • A strong understanding of ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT standards and experience with IBC Special Inspections.
      
    • Experience managing projects in rapidly growing markets or leading multi-disciplinary teams is a plus.
      
      
      
      What to Expect:

      • Outdoor, hands-on work in all weather conditions
        
      • Walking over rough terrain and standing for long periods (up to 12 hours)
        
      • Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. of materials and equipment
        
      • Safely handling field tools and maneuvering equipment on active construction sites
