**The standardized annual salary for this position is $51,201 dependent upon fund availability and OSHR approval.**

Reporting to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is responsible for assisting the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II in the management and operation of an institutional housing unit. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Implementing and monitoring the unit case management system which entails providing individual counseling, participating in group sessions, and maintaining reports relating to the offenders' progress.
  • Supervising staff and in the absence of the Correctional Unit Manager II, assuming responsibility for the overall management of the unit.
  • Serving on institutional classification committees. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with The selected candidate may be selected to work the hours 8am to 5pm and will rotate working weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

    The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.

    About North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW):

    North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW), in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women. It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons. The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh. NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safekeepers and youth. It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.

    The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women. Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.

    Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

    High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of correctional experience, one of which must have been at the supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Necessary Special Qualification: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
