Job Summary:
The Corporate Development & Strategy Director will be responsible for execution of M&A strategy as well as an assessment of and execution of specific acquisition, joint venture, alliance, and divestiture opportunities on a global basis. Additionally, the role will support annual corporate strategic planning efforts in addition to targeted GBU strategy support
Key Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the key point of contact/strategic partner for corporate development and other critical business activities that could include mergers, acquisitions, divestiture, or other strategic initiatives
  • Demonstrates leadership, scientific rigor, and business acumen while collaborating closely with GBU, Commercial, R&D, Finance, and Legal, and key stakeholders and potential external partners
  • Serves as strategic thought partner of while driving the execution of external business development elements
  • Partners on the delivery of business assessments and recommendations of external opportunities, including deal proposals, valuation, deal status, and key issues of the transaction
  • Accountable for generating, presenting, defending, and maintaining forecasts of opportunities and markets with a high degree of precision and insight
  • Proactively and continuously assess the dental industry and its dynamics, customers, competitors, and future development trends. Provide an unbiased point of view on the performance and future potential of markets/brands/pipeline assets, supported by facts and evidence
  • Develops and delivers clear, concise presentations that synthesize disparate data (market research, secondary data, etc.), and that demonstrates a deep understanding of the market dynamics, competition, and business development opportunity
  • Effectively collaborates with a broad set of business counterparts to plan and execute accurate analytics in support of diligence workstreams
  • Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary, including integration strategy and planning, portfolio reviews, and other Board or Executive-driven projects Education:
    • BS/BA; MBA preferred Years and Type of Experience:
      • At least 8 years of corporate finance, business development and/or strategic planning experience Required Computer Skills:
        • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills
        • Project Management and related software
        • Email and Internet applications Key Required Skills, Knowledge, and Capabilities:
          • M&A and/or Corporate Strategy experience preferred
          • Operating within a brand to deliver against financial and business goals is required
          • Experience in large organizations with multiple business groups/stakeholders, preferred Key Behaviors Critical for Success in the Role:
            • Strong working knowledge of dental industry issues, trends, and their business impact
            • Intellectual fortitude to become a subject matter expert of the dental industry and the competitive landscape
            • Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills
            • Able to communicate effectively with senior management internally and externally
            • Competence in reviewing and editing contracts and providing direction to Legal in term sheets and contracts
            • Ability to influence analysis undertaken by other functions
            • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills
            • Consistently delivers on commitments in a timely manner
            • Works well with and exerts influence on multi-disciplinary teams. Facilitates candid dialogue and cross-functional collaboration
