A Technical Writer job in Wilmington, North Carolina is currently available through Belcan. To be considered for this role you will have experience in technical writing in a nuclear business environment, quality assurance, engineering, or computer technology or experience with developing new content from a variety of resources such as product specifications, interviews with technical subject experts, etc. You will also have demonstrate proficiency in using computer applications including but not limited to experience in word processing, presentation packages, databases, and spreadsheet packages and be proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with Adobe software to be able to create/modify PDF files and MS Word mastery is required. As a Technical Writer you will be responsible for providing support to, and collaborating with, engineers to produce new and existing technical specifications, reports, manuals, presentations, procedures and other documents in support of new commercial nuclear reactor projects. Technical Writer Job Duties and Responsibilities: Develop documents that are organized, succinct, compliant, and meet internal and external deadlines; edit documents for consistency, clarity, grammar, syntax, format, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. Create, manage, and maintain websites, libraries, storage repositories, work flows, newsletters, etc., as assigned. Process engineering changes through appropriate data management systems, perform records management type functions, record maintenance activities, as assigned and support input into the Product Life-cycle Management System (PLM) and the Nuclear Collaboration System. Collect, analyze, and compile information from various resources, for use in creation or editing of procedures, reports, and documents and manage technical documentation in support of business products creating documentation that is complete, accurate, and timely. Prioritize, organize, and complete multiple activities, meeting established deadlines, relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish activities; work to and update project schedules on a regular basis and ensure projects are implemented on time with high quality and within budget. Provide technical writing support to, and updates for, new and existing assigned documentation and work with industry and customer standards to develop quality and user-friendly formats and templates for future publications; troubleshoot and resolve publication discrepancies while managing review and approval of documents including comment resolution. Become familiar with applicable products, services, concepts, practices, requirements, and procedures and collaborate with subject matter experts in the creation and implementation of documentation. Technical Writer Job Requirements and Preferences: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least four years of experience in technical writing). Experience in technical writing in a nuclear business environment, quality assurance, engineering, or computer technology, national labs, governmental agencies in a high-tech field or experience with developing new content from a variety of resources such as product specifications, interviews with technical subject experts, etc. Must demonstrate proficiency in using computer applications; experience in word processing, presentation packages, databases, and spreadsheet packages with proficient with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel; familiarity with Adobe software to be able to create/modify PDF files. MS Word mastery is required. Strong knowledge of electronic document publication and printing with strong skills using Adobe Acrobat Professional, DC and graphics software, including Visio and Adobe Photoshop or Corel Photo Paint. Familiarity with US NRC Regulatory Guide (RG), with system and software standards (ASME, IEEE, IEC, etc.) and familiarity with Documentum practices and requirements and with configuration management protocols in a high-tech, regulated environment. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; must work well in a team environment and have excellent written communication skills. Strong organizational skills, project execution skills, and detail oriented with the ability to manage time and work on multiple projects simultaneously, a self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude, an energetic problem-solver capable of handling multiple tasks and priority.
