Job Description:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Re-design mechanical components to
reduce installation cost, solve equipment interferences, and
correct inadequate designs. B. Create, review, and update
installation documentation and drawings as required. C. Redline
existing drawings and follow-up with drafting services or oversee
draftsmen as required to resolve design issues. D. Execute changes
in design to solve equipment/process issues. E. Take personal
responsibility for all aspects of ensuring designs meet form, fit,
and function goals established by internal customers and project
manager. F. Provide sketches or marked-up drawings as dictated by
project and evolutionary equipment needs. DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Education required: AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS
Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering, or
equivalent (Equivalent work experience may be considered in rare
circumstances.) Experience required: Minimum 3 years of experience
Skill or work style preferred: A. Self-motivated B. Results
oriented C. Ability to handle multiple priorities D. Ability to
work well with varied job requirements E. Ability to work well in
small teams is essential F. Well organized G. GD&T
understanding and experience H. Proficient with pneumatic and
electrical schematics I. Thorough understanding of mechanical drive
trains, electrical and pneumatic actuators Unique or special
requirements: A. Capable of generating a full drawing package for
typical industrial equipment from assembly to detailed drawings. B.
Thorough understanding of mechanical equipment/systems to enable
proper new designs or modifications to existing. C. Routinely
performs elementary design calculations; i.e., statics, hydraulics,
power transmission, etc. Equipment or software experience
preferred: Windows, MS Office suite including Power Point, Excel,
Word, AutoCAD 2023, Vault, Inventor 2023 Travel Requirements: There
may be a need to travel to the Concord Plant to collect
drawing/equipment information or similar at an equipment vendor,
but this would be rare. Position will require minimal time spent on
the floor gathering info on existing equipment Equipment
familiarization preferred: A. Personal Computers B. Precision
measurement devices such as Tape Measure, Calipers, Micrometers,
etc. C. Knowledge of operation or direct experience with machine
shop and fabrication shop processes that aid design for efficient
manufacture. ADDITIONAL POSITION INFORMATION: Team is based in
Wilmington, NC. Often contractors that excel and are interested in
continuing beyond the initial project may be considered for
additional assignments. However, these additional projects may not
be located at the same place as the initial posting. We have
multiple plants in NC. Future travel requirements will vary based
