for a Senior Project Engineer role in our Shallotte, NC

Summary
As a Senior Project Engineer, you will prepare and review plans,
technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates related
to a variety of projects including water / wastewater, linear,
civil site, land development, and solid waste projects. You will be
responsible for supervising the work of technical support staff and
providing mentorship and training as needed. You will assist in
developing project scope and fees for services, and assist the
project team in communicating with clients and meeting contractual
obligations to move projects forward. You may design and maintain
ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the
project with local, state, and federal officials, or other outside
agencies. This role would be a good fit for you if you are looking
for a technical focused, design-heavy role where you can have the
opportunity to mentor junior staff and work on a large variety of
projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs on
soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other
topographical and geologic data to plan and design a project.
Use computer assisted engineering and design software (i.e. AutoCAD
Civil 3D) to prepare engineering and design drawings and documents.
Provide direction to CAD Operators to reduce designs to working
drawings.
Review the work of junior staff members and provide mentorship and
training as needed.
Prepare design computations and quantity estimates and develop
probable construction cost estimates for projects.
Prepare or modify of reports, specifications, plans, construction
schedules, environmental impact studies, permits, and designs for
projects.
Assist the Shallotte Office Manager, project managers, and other
staff in developing and maintaining client relationships, project
budgets and schedules, and in maintaining the technical and
financial performance of the team's budget.
May be required to attend client meetings as needed, during and
outside of regular office hours to develop and maintain client
relationships. These meetings can include public meetings,
workshops, or retreats.
May be required to visit construction sites as needed to monitor
progress and handle other duties per the construction contract
documents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering,
or a related field.
6+ years of total experience in both water / wastewater municipal
design and civil site design projects.
North Carolina PE license or the ability to obtain within 6
months.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Proficiency in commonly used software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
