Assistant or Associate Professor of Sociology
The Spadoni College of Education and Social Sciences at Coastal
Carolina University invites applications for a Professor of
Sociology beginning in August 2024. This position is advertised at
the Assistant or Associate level. A Ph.D. in Sociology is required
at the time of the appointment.
Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching and
research experience in social justice and social inequalities
(i.e., Race, Class, and Gender). The primary responsibility of the
Assistant or Associate Professor will be to teach undergraduate
sociology classes in the Social Justice minor including Social
Justice, Community Development/Social Change, Social Welfare Policy
and Social Work, Environmental Sociology, Poverty, Social
Movements, and African American Communities.
The Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degrees in Sociology and
Criminal Justice. We also offer minors in Criminal Justice,
Criminology, Social Justice, and Sociology. This highly
collaborative and active department encourages close-knit classroom
experiences and promotes experiential learning that highlights
faculty areas of expertise and research.
Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to student learning,

Preference will be given to candidates who have a strong commitment
to excellence in undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate
will have a demonstrated ability to engage a diverse community of
learners, including first-generation college students, through a

demonstrated commitment to underrepresented communities.
