Brief Summary of Work for this Position

Conducts recreation activities for individual and group participation related to marine science in residential hall, field, and classroom settings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check.Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience
    • Experience working with youth ages 9 17
    • Knowledge of marine sciences is a plus
    • Completion of at least 2 years of higher educationRequired Certifications or Licensure
      • First Aid and CPR Certifications for adult and child are required. Cerrtifications must be obtained by June 5, 2023.
      • Completion of online training modules and MarineQuest in-person staff training held June 5th 9th, 2023 are required
      • Lifeguard Certification preferred and in some cases required (must be signed-up for a certification course within 30 days of returning signed Letter of Agreement).Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

        Evening positions: 2:00PM - 10:00PM Sunday and 3:30PM -10:00PM Monday-Thursday; Weekend positions: 3:30PM 10:00PM Friday, 6:30AM -10:00PM Saturday and Sunday

        Evening positions: Sunday-Thursday; Weekend positions: Friday (evenings) - Sunday

        Hours Per Week

        Evening positions 36 hours; Weekend positions 40 hours

        Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department need. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines. To be considered for the main staff selection pool of applicants, you must apply by February 13, 2023. Pay varies by position and is based on qualifications, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Additional compensation may include housing and some meals when working.
