This position is the highest level of administrative support for the Director of Nursing and statewide Nursing Leadership in the Department of Adult Correction. This position is allocated tasks that require attention to detail and accuracy. This position is responsible for maintaining a high level of knowledge of major projects and workflow of Comprehensive Health Services.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Creating and maintaining various health services and HR-related database information.
  • Processing and maintaining a variety of documents, records, and reports for the Director of Nursing to include researching, compiling, verifying, and logging data as well as distributing data to designated staff.
  • Planning and coordinating statewide Nursing Leadership meetings, which includes compiling meeting material for distribution to meeting attendees, recording minutes, and distributing minutes to designated staff.
  • Creating and/or revising the Health Care Procedure Manual and nursing protocols and/or policies.
  • Researching and responding to requests from legal staff and/or inmate family members.
  • Composing and drafting confidential letters, memorandums, and reports to be signed by the Director of Nursing.
  • Coordinating the schedule for and distributing mail for the Director of Nursing.
  • Utilizing strong organizational and recordkeeping skills to ensure the effectiveness of daily operations in the Director of Nursing's office.
  • Communicating clearly and concisely in oral and written form to the public and employees.
  • Establishing effective professional working relationships with staff and the public.
  • Utilizing various Microsoft Office programs as well as Health Services computer programs proficiently. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits

    About the Dept. of Adult Correction:
    Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons, Correction Enterprises, Community Supervision, and Reentry Programs & Services.

    About the Comprehensive Health Services Division:
    The mission of Comprehensive Health Services is to provide internal and external customers served by the Dept. of Adult Correction with access to quality, cost-effective healthcare rendered by competent healthcare professionals. This Division seeks to improve the health status of inmates, provide care consistent with community standards, and ensure that invested tax dollars produce the best value.

    To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following:
