Directs financial activities of the organization by performing the duties and responsibilities noted below either personally or through subordinate supervisors and/or managers.
_*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*_
In all aspects of the role, support and adhere to the Quality Policy, Environmental Policy and Corporate Mission Statement. Adhere to all environmental policies and regulations and strive to prevent pollution and maintain a clean and healthy environment. Support and participate in Sturdy's continuous improvement programs.
Serve as a financial advisor to the President/CEO, and executive team, for strategic planning purposes.
Oversee all aspects of accounting and finance operations, including payables, receivables, financial reporting, analyses, reconciliations, and tax preparation. All financial reporting is prepared on the income tax basis of accounting.
Calculate and report Cost of Goods Sold on a monthly basis in conjunction with the monthly closeout process.
Work directly with the President/CEO of the organization to monitor and ensure operations are on track to achieve forecasted and targeted goals. In that regard, prepare reliable financial statement and cash flow projections based on forecasted sales activities and other variable inputs as provided by the President/CEO, department heads, and product line managers.
Advise executive management about risk management and insurance coverages for protection against casualty losses and potential liabilities and risks.
Determine depreciation rates to apply to capital assets in accordance with income tax basis reporting.
Advise management on operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
Arrange for external audit and/or reviews of company's accounts and financial statements.
Manage the company's compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory matters and prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Directly supervise the Accounting Manager. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

_*EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE*_
A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting is required. CPA is preferred. Proven work experience as a VP of Finance or similar role, or progressive experience which makes the VP of Finance role a logical fit. In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance (income, payroll and sales tax) and other regulatory matters is required. A proven track record of success with automating financial and accounting reporting systems is highly desirable.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, and/or boards of directors. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, present value and ROI. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
